Physical Therapy
What is Physical Therapy?
Physical Therapy is a healthcare profession that works to improve strength, mobility, and pain management. PTs work with patients and their families to identify barriers to functional mobility and create a customized treatment plan that allows patients to get moving!
Why Physical Therapy?
PTs approach mobility from a functional perspective! We work to evaluate your child’s physical strengths and weaknesses to increase their proficiency and confidence in walking, running, playing, and getting around their environment.
Is PT right for my child?
Your child may benefit from PT if they have difficulty in any of the following areas:
- Walking with a typical gait pattern
- Meeting mobility milestones
- Holding head at center or has flat areas on head (infants)
- Running, jumping, navigating steps and curbs, using age-appropriate riding toys
- Using appropriate balance and coordination to play with peers or on playground equipment
- Sustaining endurance for family outings
- Pain management or return to typical function following an injury or surgery
How do I Get Started?
Although Physical Therapists are direct service providers, pediatrics is considered a specialty and often requires a physician referral or prescription in order for insurance to be billed for services. Speak with your child’s pediatrician today about whether Physical Therapy is the right choice for your family! Prescriptions must specify 7 Senses Therapy Center, Inc. and can be faxed to: 540-451-7008.
